CHECKING IN

Ibis Styles have designed a modern getaway for solo or business travellers where your every need can be met. With a modern style and fresh pops of colour, it has created a chic atmosphere. They have a fitness centre which was great for me to keep up with my workout routine, several onsite restaurants so that I didn’t have to stress too much about where to eat and also an incredible panoramic view of the Nairobi skyline that was breathtaking.

THE ROOMS

The hotel offers 227 rooms with a number of accommodations ranging from single queen bed rooms to doubles and suites with views of the city. Rooms feature safes, complimentary bottled water, a Nespresso machine and Flat-screen televisions with cable channels. Bathrooms include showers, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. All rooms include complimentary wireless Internet access and housekeeping is provided daily.

Each element of the room had been designed with a purpose. I also loved the art that was in the room, with each room in the hotel having a different piece specifically designed by Tom Mboya, a Kenyan-born artist.

FOOD AND DRINKS

With two onsite restaurants (Utamu and Kilele Nyama), there was so much choice when it came to any meal. The Kilele Nyama is more of a casual experience and offers new creative dishes every day, with a focus on regional products and international flavours. The menu changes daily, offering both classic regional dishes and new innovative creations, while a varied and well-stocked buffet breakfast is available each morning

Probably one of the best parts of the hotel has to be the rooftop bar where I was able to enjoy delectable drinks and snacks with sunset views of the Nairobi skyline from the bar terrace. As the evening draws in and the cold begins to set, the rooftop heaters would come alive so that I could continue to enjoy the evening’s festivities with comfort. They also did great deals on the cocktails, which allowed me to try a variety from the menu.

The Grab and Go is a coffee shop that serves a selection of pastries, sandwiches and paninis. This is an excellent option if you are heading out into the city and need a quick snack, or if you are heading a bit further afield and want to make sure that you leave with a full stomach.

SPA AND WELLNESS

The Revitalize Spa is a place where you can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. It has 3 treatment rooms and offers a variety of body massages.

A comprehensive fitness centre is located on the basement floor offering a full range of gym equipment and water and sports drinks to keep you refreshed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I loved my stay at Ibis Styles hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the room was clean, and comfortable and had everything I needed. The breakfast each morning was delicious with a great selection of food and the views from the hotel are stunning.

BOOKING

You can make your bookings here. The room rates start from $60 and include breakfast and complimentary access to the wellness centre. The hotel has two restaurants, two bars and a cafe, or you can head out into the area and try one of the many restaurants, bars or nightclubs. I would recommend enjoying some delicious barbecue delicacies from Kilele Nyama and then heading to the Sky Bar for after-dinner cocktails and views of the skyline.
